It was blizzarding outside, snow falling thick blankets, the winds howling as they swept past the castle. The views from the windows on the first floor of the castle were dark grey, flurries quickly fading into the snowstorm so thick it was even difficult to see parts of the castle itself. Locked inside for the weekend, the Slytherin common room was filled to the brim, the fire in the fireplace burning cheerily as students sprawled across the floors, crowded the couches, and squeezed around tables together, books open and heads bowed as they studied for their midterm exams. Scorpius and Alby had gotten up early and reserved themselves an armchair, displacing its pillows and pulling up an ottoman, snuggling together and dozing off until the rest of the Slytherin had rolled out of their beds to prepare for their tests.

Scorpius had found his studying time halved pressed this close to Alby, his arms around his boyfriend as they held their Potions text between them, quizzing each other on ingredients, techniques, recipes, and rewarding each other with kisses when they got questions right. It was only shortly after lunch that they had moved onto History of Magic, which had of late, been so boring that even Scorpius found himself nodding off during class, that mid-snog, they noticed the sound of shuffling fabric at the foot of their chair. Scorpius looked up, one hand still wrapped around the back of Alby's neck.

"What?" he asked, mildly annoyed that he and Alby had been interrupted.

The two of them lay there like that for as long as it took them to recover; Alby was feeling a contented sort of drowsy, maybe not tired like he wanted to sleep, but tired enough to be happy to lay there for a good long while, with Scorp's warmth atop him. The other pressed a soft kiss against his collarbone and nuzzled beneath his chin, and Alby chuckled lazily, fingers playing through the blonde strands of hair. "I think we should do that a lot," he drawled, thinking that they really should thank Joe for making them go off alone later. Though part of that would probably entail not telling Joe what exactly it had prompted.

Presently, Alby felt strong enough to shift down a little, scooting so that Scorp's nose was at least at shoulder-level and he could kiss it. "I don't suppose I can convince you to just stay here like this a while?" he asked, thinking he might actually have a pretty good chance, as long as Scorp didn't remember that they were supposed to be studying. He slipped both hands away from Scorp to place them against the other's back, rubbing slowly, aware that one hand was rather sticky but not particularly caring, since the mess was all over their stomachs as well. There were spells that could be used to clean that up, later.

"I certainly wouldn't mind," Scorpius agreed with a grin, closing his eyes to enjoy the sensations of Alby's fingers running through his hair. His limbs felt like jelly, his brain lethargic as he stretched out a bit to accommodate Alby's shifting, lefting his head up a bit as Alby scooted down. He blinked as Alby kissed his nose, and then smiled, placing a light bite on Alby's chin playfully in response.

"I think we're stuck here for at least another couple hours," Scorpius said, giving Alby a squeeze around his middle. Studying had crossed his mind, but he pushed it out of the way. For the first time in his life, he was in no mood to pick up a book and begin reading. All wanted to was to stay where he was. Scorpius was feeling a bit sticky but he was warm enough, snuggled against his boyfriend, sated, satisfied, and more in love with Alby than he had ever been.

"I hope they don't miss us for dinner," Scorpius said with a chuckle, laying his head back down on Alby's shoulder. He lifted his hand and stretched it out before him, Alby's hand coming up and their fingers twining together. Scorpius glanced up at his boyfriend, realizing how close the Christmas holidays were and exactly how long he was going to be spending at the Manor with his family, away from Alby. Scorpius put that thought out of his mind, and for the rest of the evening, resolved not to leave Alby's side.

"Heh, then I think that sounds perfect," Alby laughed softly, taking the hand Scorp offered and interlacing their fingers, liking the way Scorp's weight felt just right on top of him. In fact, a couple of hours sounded like not enough time, but there would be plenty of time, in the future. Even if they could only steal away like this once in a while, Alby vowed that they'd make the most of it.

"I suppose we'll hear the bell," he murmured in response, thinking that he ate dinner every day, and he'd much rather make better use of his time with Scorp anyway, so if they missed it, what was the big deal?

Especially with the holidays coming up, he realized - they were fast approaching, and while normally he liked going home to see his family, this year he realized he was just going to be thinking about seeing Scorp when they got back. Settling back into the couch a little more comfortably, Alby decided that that just wouldn't do - there had to be a way to see Scorp over the Christmas holidays, and he'd work out what it was soon enough. Right now his brain - and the rest of him - was feeling comfortably lethargic, and he decided to put off any further thinking until it was absolutely necessary. For now, he just wanted to lay here and share warmth with Scorp, more content than he'd probably ever been before.
